Auditions

Welcome to auditions for Come From Away. We will be seeing people on:

• Saturday, Sept. 12th, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

• Monday, Sept. 14th, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Take a look at the posted sides (see below) and bring your copies to the audition. Please prepare a song from the show. You can sign up for a 10-minute audition slot here.

Callbacks: Saturday, Sept. 19th, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. I’d like to say a little bit about callbacks. Just because you didn’t get called back, it does not mean you are not being considered for a role.

Rehearsals: I would like to start with some workshops in December and then start rehearsals in the beginning of January.

The Run: Friday, Feb. 26, through Sunday, March 21. Performances on Fridays and Saturdays start at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m.

The Newfoundland Accent: Since half the characters come from Newfoundland, you must be comfortable with their accent. You may choose a small speech of a Newfoundland character you are auditioning for, or use the brief monologue below to demonstrate your ability to master the accent. All other scenes can be accent-free even if the character is from Newfoundland. We will add the accent during rehearsals. This is so we can focus on your take of the character without being distracted by the accent.

Accent Monologue: Well, you take a taxi to The Goose—there’s a bus there to Port Aux Basque, leaves once a day, that about six hours. Once you’re there, you take the ferry across the Gulf, right? That’s eight hours or so, then you catch another bus, not sure how often they leave, but it’s another eight hours to Yarmouth where you can get another ferry to the U.S. border, that’s another four hours or so—and from Bar Harbor you should be able to grab a Greyhound to whenever you need to go. It’s about two or three days travel. But it’s sure a nice view.

Port Aux Basque is pronounced POR duh BASS
