Mentorship

Professional Mentorship Program

The Depot Theater’s Professional Mentorship Program for teens is a first of its kind in the region. This program includes immersive theatrical study & professional mentoring with our Mainstage artists.

Each year we welcome a small group of capable teens (4 spots maximum) interested in a professional, hands-on experience in the areas of directing, stage managing, choreography, technical positions, and more.

Chosen participants will:

  • Collaborate to choose, plan, and fully mount the 4–7 grade Depot Youth production beginning in the new year and rehearsing/performing in July.

  • Meet for professional mentorship sessions with Mainstage designers and directors January–June.

  • Attend a professional production meeting for one Depot Mainstage show.

  • Assist on a Depot Mainstage production for a minimum of 8 hours.

Application requirements:

  • Attend one Directing Workshop led by our Artistic Director, Alice Jankell. This year’s Directing Workshop will occur on Saturday, Nov. 8, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. and on Sunday, Nov. 9, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

  • Complete an online application after attending the Directing Workshop.

  • Attend an in-person interview with Depot Staff.
